Women’s clothes are made without practical pockets, because putting shit in your pockets ruins the line of the garment. It creates bulges and makes the fabric drape all wrong. Men’s dress clothes are made without pockets, too, and for the same reason.
then why the hell would they bother putting a faux pocket, or one that’s technically functional but not practically (like in the picture above)? Why not just not put any sort of pocket at all?
If women had functional pockets, do you think half of us would really carry a purse? Think about it, men don’t have to have purses because they can fit everything they need into their pockets. Women cannot fit a cellphone in their pocket, let alone a wallet. We need our purses for practical reasons since our pockets are not practical. In the past, some skirts and dresses did have slits for pockets, which were completely separate from the dress. However, not all dresses had those, which is why women either used their apron as a makeshift purse or had their own purse.
